Fungal nail infection is an infection of the nail which is usually caused due to attack of fungus. It is the same like nail infection has. Fungal nail infection is very easy to get and can be very painful and unsightly. It can take around six months or more to treat and heal. That's why it makes sense to avoid getting a toenail fungal infection in the first place.
With fungal nail infection various risk factors are loaded. You should careful against them. Because they are not only responsible for causing nail infection but also give too much pain. Here I have given below a few risk factors of fungal nail infection:
• Tight footwear promotes crowding of the toes keeps the toes warm and moist - a perfect environment for fungi to grow.
• Exercise can cause repeated minor trauma to the hyponychium allowing fungi to invade.
• Communal showers can expose the feet to fungi.
• Diseases that influence the immune system like AIDS and diabetes can make it easier for a fungal infection to start.
Treatment of Fungal Nail Infection:
Wear sandals or flip flops in public places like gyms, spas and pools. Keep your shower and bathtub free of mold by disinfecting weekly with bleach. Allow your feet to air out during the day by removing your shoes and socks. Going barefoot at home gives your feet a chance to breathe and dry out.
If you must wear socks and shoes all day, use an anti-fungal foot powder on your feet and in your shoes, and wear socks that absorb moisture. Don't sleep with your socks on. Wash your feet every day, especially between the toes, and use a nail brush. Make sure feet are thoroughly dry before putting on socks. Keep your toenails clean, clipped and short.
